Commonly, it is being differentiated between agency conflicts and structural conflicts, following the standard developed by practitioner Johan Galtung. Agency conflicts are characterized by a consciousness of suppositions and contradictions, while in structural conflicts, both the latter aspects are subconscious. Conflicts can either be symmetric and asymmetric in constellation.
